On Friday, the United Kingdom government announced an increase in the cost of visa applications by over 35%.

A report released by the UK Home Office stated how the visa for six months will increase from £15 to £115, while the student visa fee will be fixed at £490 instead of £127. It was stated that the increase in visa fees would enable the government to secure more funds from the public sector.

The report further stated that the new developments will affect the fees for entry clearance and other leave applications. The surge in Visa fees will take effect starting October 4, 2023.

This news came as a shock to Nigerians planning to migrate to the UK but some stood their ground to "JAPA" regardless of the visa fees. What is your take on this?
