King Charles III of the United Kingdom has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Buckingham Palace reported that it was discovered during King Charles's recent treatment for an enlarged prostate in January. The King will step down because he has commenced medical treatment since Monday. Though he will continue as head of state and attend private meetings, all his public events are canceled.
75-year-old King Charles III became King of England in May 2023 after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. Queen Elizabeth ruled England for 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in the UK. She died at 96 and was succeeded by her son King Charles III at 73.
