UNA plane skids off runway in Lagos


A United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) aircraft skidded off the airport runway in Lagos State. The incident happened yesterday at runway 18L at the Murtala Mohammed Airport 2, in Lagos State.

The plane had 50 passengers on board when this incident occurred.

Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, who is the Head of Corporate Communications of the airline, released a statement.

He said that the aircraft which is 5N-BWW, had 50 passengers on board, and was flying in from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, when this incident occurred.

He mentioned the plane landed safety but it was forced to halt its movement to the apron off the runway.

He also said that all the passengers on board emerged safely from the plane and they, alongside their luggage, were taken to the arrival hall.

He also revealed that the officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were at the scene where the incident took place.

He said UNA engineers were also present and are working on moving the aircraft from the scene to the hangar.

He said the Airline, UNA is fully collaborating with the authorities.

He also assured people that they maintain safety standards in all their operations strictly.

He said the Airline will continue to prioritize the safety of their passengers at all times
