Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has won the Premier League December Manager of the Month award.
The Europa League winner has transformed Aston Villa from a bottom-half team in the Premier League table to title contenders.
In December, Emery took his elite-level managerial performance with the club to greater heights. In seven matches, the Villans bagged six wins, including a statement win over Manchester City and Arsenal at Villa Park.
With his prolific run at the dugout at Aston, Emery was tipped to clinch his second Premier League award after he first won the award in April 2023.
However, he came on against three other nominees for the award who also recorded impressive campaigns with their respective clubs. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was also nominated for the award. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola also made the cut following a sensational run with Bournemouth in the month. David Moyes of West Ham made the final name on the list.
Emery did not record a perfect record with Aston Villa following their only defeat in the month against Manchester United. However, he was tipped to win the award following the statement victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Spaniard is the second Aston Villa manager to win the award after Martin O'Neil who won it four times. He is also the third manager to clinch the award this season after Ange Postecoglou of Tottenham and Erik ten Hag of Manchester United.
