UPS has announced plans to acquire Frigo-Trans and its sister company BPL, leading healthcare logistics providers based in Germany. This move will significantly enhance UPS’s ability to offer end-to-end, temperature-controlled logistics solutions across Europe, catering to the growing demands of the healthcare industry, especially for pharmaceuticals.
Kate Gutmann, UPS’s EVP of Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions, highlighted that the acquisition aligns with UPS's strategy to address the increasing need for complex cold and frozen supply chains in the pharmaceutical sector.
Frigo-Trans offers an advanced network, including temperature-controlled warehousing across six zones, ranging from cryopreservation (-196°C) to ambient temperatures. The acquisition is set to close in Q1 2025, pending regulatory approval. Financial details were not disclosed.
