The 2023 Africa Best Player of the year has reportedly agreed to extend his deal with Napoli till 2026, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano said;

"Napoli have reached an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen with release clause included.

"It will be valid until June 2026, one more year.

Further details of the report reveals the final value of Osimhen's release clause as set by Napoli could be around €130m.

Osimhen's current contract with Napoli runs till 2025 - the end of next season. He has been however linked to a number of top clubs in Europe since last summer.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis did not mince words on Napoli's stand on Victor Osimhen's future.

Aurelio stated categorically that Napoli want to keep Osimhen but he could be forced to part ways with the striker with a reasonable offer in excess of £100m.

Chelsea, who were among the clubs interested in Osimhen, bowed out of the race for the 24-year-old due to the £100m price tag.

Now, there are reports the club is ready to break bank and sign Victor Osimhen to arrest the numb in the Blues' attack. The club are reportedly ready for a January move for the player.

It is pertinent to note Osimhen's contract extension agreement will not stop him from a transfer exit from Napoli in January but it will bolster Napoli's chances on the negotiation table with potential suitors.

Victor Osimhen scored 26 Serie A goals, and 35 across all competitions last season to power Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

He was recently crowned Africa best player of the year following a remarkable campaign with the Azzuri.

This season, Osimhen is still edging on a prolific finish despite his injury blow. He has 6 Serie A goals in 11 games and one Champions League goal in 4 matches.
