Nigeria Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed his interest in playing in the Premier League.

Osimhen has been linked to several Premier League clubs since last summer. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal led the list of clubs who were interested in the services of the Napoli sensation.

While Manchester United have backed out of the race for Osimhen, Chelsea and Arsenal are still linked to the player.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen recently signed a new contract extension with Napoli to extend his stay with the Neapolitans to 2027.

Following the new contract extension, Napoli have slammed a £112m release clause on the player to send a message to clubs interested in a move for the player.

It is understood Victor Osimhen's new release clause as fixed by Napoli is a ploy for the club to hold sway and examine some level of control over the future of the player. However, a move for the player is not foreclosed as the release clause can be activated this January.

Amidst reports linking him to a possible exit from Napoli, Victor Osimhen recently blasted his Napoli teammate Khivcha Kvaratskhelia's agent Mamuka Jugeli for making unsolicited remarks on the future of the Napoli forward.

According to Mamuka Jugeli, Osimhen was eyeing a move to Saudi Arabia and will likely leave Napoli at the end of the season despite his recent contract renewal with the club.

Osimhen immediately denied the claim while lashing back on Jugeli to stay out of his transfer future.

Nevertheless, Osimhen has been a hot transfer topic in the rumor mills with reports still linking him to a move to the Premier League.

Before Nigeria's AFCON Group B clash against Ivory Coast, Osimhen was asked by Sky Sports reporter Toni Afoke whether he is interested in moving to the Premier League someday and he replied in the affirmative.

In his words, the Napoli forward said;

"Of course, one day, definitely. For now, I have other plans in my career I am looking forward to but when the time comes, everyone knows."

Osimhen bagged the prestigious CAF Footer of the Year Award after his Scudetto-winning campaign with Napoli last season. He scored 26 league goals to also add the Serie A Golden Boot to his collection of laurels.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2023 AFCON. He scored the Super Eagles' opening goal of the tournament and also caused the penalty that led to the winning goal against tournament hosts Ivory Coast in the second match.
