Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli this season. Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed Osimhen is on the last stretch of his spell with the club despite recently signing a new one-year contract extension with the club.
Osimhen, who is on AFCON duty with the Super Eagles, let the cat out of the bag on his Napoli future, ahead of the Super Eagles' round 16 clash with Cameroon. The CAF Footballer of The Year candidly admitted he has made a decision on his future with Napoli and will head-on with his resolve at the end of the season.
While refusing to admit whether he will leave the Neapolitans or not, it was obvious the 26-year-old is bracing for his Napoli exit.
When asked about Osimhen's comment, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said the club was aware of Osimhen's intention to leave, hence the decision to tie him down with a new one-year contract extension.
"We've known all this since last summer, which is also why negotiations for the extension of his contract, although friendly, took so long," De Laurentiis said.
"We know he's either going to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or an English club."
It is understood Osimhen's new contract extension, which comes with a new release clause in excess of £100m, was a ploy by Napoli to cash in on Osimhen with top European clubs showing interest in the player.
Osimhen scored 26 league goals for Napoli last season to propel the club to their first Serie A crown in 33 years. He won Serie A Golden Boot, including Serie A Footballers Player of The Season before capping a memorable year with the CAF Footballer of The Year Award.
Chelsea are leading the list of clubs interested in a move for Osimhen but it is yet to be determined whether the Blues will fork out over £100m for the player, having splashed the same on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo
