Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was not impressed with Man United style of play after their barren draw with the Red Devils at Anfield.
The Reds went into the game a better side, and were favourites to win the match. They dominated proceedings, registering 34 attempts with 8 on target.
Despite a dominant display, it ended barren with both sides sharing spoils.
Speaking after the game, Virgil van Dijk sounded satirical and unimpressed with Man United's consistent low blocks.
According to him, it was a boring game from the end of the visitors as they made no attempt to challenge for the ball and engage the Reds.
The Dutch center-back added they were the one making all the efforts to win while United sat back to defend, and were even happy to escaped with a point.
‘'How we played the game, having most of the ball, there was only one team that was trying to win the game, unfortunately it didn't happen,’ said Van Dijk. ‘We were superior in all aspects. They are buzzing with a point and we are disappointed," van Dijk said.
Manchester United missed their skipper Bruno Fernandes in the game but had Kobbie Mainoo pair with Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay to anchor United's midfield.
Erik ten Hag maintained an upbeat tone on Manchester United after the game, insisting his players gave their best. However, his counterpart Jurgen Klopp, seemed to poke fun on United's performance like his captain van Dijk.
Klopp said his team had never exercise such dominance over Manchester United in a game even during their 7-0 victory last season.
Roy Keane scolds Virgil van Dijk for disrespecting Manchester United
Manchester United legend Roy Keane was unsettled with Virgil van Dijk's post-match comment on Man United. Keane described van Dijk's comment as 'disrespecful' and 'arrogant.'
The English football icon took a subtle dig on van Dijk and Liverpool, reminding the Dutch Liverpool have won only one Premier League title in 30 years.
‘It’s arrogance. You still have to go out and do it. That's what the great teams do. Liverpool have won the league once in 30 years. We played Liverpool many times when they were struggling. You find different ways to win a football match," Roy Keane said.
Manchester United have struggled this season under Erik ten Hag. A defeat at Anfield would have compounded the pressure on the Dutch.
