Yesterday's game between England and Nigeria sealed the exit of the Super Falcons from the FIFA Women's World Cup after an intense penalty shootout.
In an interview with NTA news yesterday, the first lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu, praised the Super Falcons after watching the match saying she is very proud of them and she is waiting to receive them after a job well done.
She said, "I want to say we are proud of them. As you can see, we woke up early. Mrs Shettima even got to my office. She was the first person to get here. They played very well. We're proud of them.
They gave England a run for their money. They did well. So we'll be waiting to receive them. That's all we can say for now. We'll receive them when they come. They made us proud.
The match wasn't easy for England. So it was like a bonus you say because they really played very well. And they played fine soccer. They did."
The Super Falcons lost to the Lionesses after a penalty shootout of 4-2, qualifying England's team for the quarter finals.
