"When I remarry, I will not change my Lastname" Toke Makinwa
Popular Nigerian actress, Toke Makinwa was revealed that she won't change her surname even after she gets married. Toke Malinwa and Chioma were discoursing this in the latest episode of Toke Moments. The duo were speaking about taking their partners last name. She asked Chioma if she would and said she will do so because she is quite traditional.
Toke Makinwa is a well-known actress, hosted businesswoman. Recall she was married a while ago and the duo divorced. She has now shared that for her next marriage, she won't take his surname because her own name is a brand. Toke Makinwa has now stood on the ground that she does not plan on changing her surname to that of her partner’s when she gets married. She explained that her name is her brand and she has worked hard to build it. She revealed that her former surname was a compound name. She shared that her husband never has issues about it as even His sister OBGYN was bearing her own name after marriage.
Speaking on her podcast, Toke, who was once married but got divorced over alleged infidelity, explained that not changing her name.
In her words “I kept my last name when I get married. It was supposed to be Toke Makinwa-Ayida but it was only at home that he called me Mrs Ayida. I hope that whoever I end up with next would actually love it because Toke Makinwa is staying.. But my kids can bear their father’s surname"
