Cristiano Ronaldo sparked reactions by sharing footage of himself and his son after a gym session.

In a post captioned, 'me and my partner,' the Al-Nassr star beamed with smiles as he shared a wholesome moment with his footballer son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, who is also aspiring to take after his Dad for a heroic career in the round leather game.

Away from Ronaldo's chiseled physique, perfectly toned to the demand of the sport, eagle-eyed fans spot a rather strange feature on his body.

Looking down his toenails, they were painted black. Painting nails is mostly used for its aesthetics and fashion purposes but it appears Cristiano Ronaldo did not paint his for fashion.

According to Men's Health, Cristiano Ronaldo painted his nails to prevent foot stomp during matches.

The report adds sports celebrities who frequently use their legs, especially footballers and professional boxers do paint their toenails for health reasons.

It is understood it protects their nails from bacterial or fungi infections by adding a layer of protection for the nails. It also prevents wear and tear during action.

It is not the first time Cristiano Ronaldo has shown off his toned body during a gym session. The Portuguese star, who is a celebrated football icon with a heroic career, is known to maintain a rigorous exercise and training schedule that keeps him in top shape for his game.

Unlike most footballers who hang the boots in their 30s, Cristiano Ronaldo is into his late 30s and will clock 40 next year but is still playing at top-level for his club Al-Nassr and national team Portugal.
