Why Cubana Chief Priest was released and Bobrisky was jailed—Timi Agbaje
Nigerian content creator Timi Agbaje demonstrated why Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest received different judgments for a similar offense. He described that according to the law, pleading guilty to naira abuse subjects a first-time offender to either pay a fine of N50,000 or be sent to jail. This was what Bobrisky was advised to do and he was sentenced to 6-months in prison. However, Cubana Chief Priest pleased innocent and the judge ruled that he paid a fine of N10 million.
That doesn't mean Cubana Chief Priest would stop appearing in court. He has just been conditionally freed until the EFCC officials can prove beyond reasonable doubt that he truly abused the naira. Now, EFCC has to provide concrete evidence to prove that the money Cubana Chief Priest sprayed was the Nigerian Naira and not a mere paper by providing the serial number of that money. This is what differentiates Bobrisky's punishment from Cubana Chief Priest's despite committing a similar offense.
