Wigwe's PA recounted how luggage issues prevented him from boarding the ill-fated chopper that took the life of his boss

Speaking at Herbert Wigwe's tribute night, his PA whose name is simply known as Shola recounted how luggage issues had prevented him from boarding the ill-fated chopper that took the life of the deceased. He said that they had just finished a meeting and were all preparing to go to the airport to board a chopper to another destination when the unfortunate incident occurred. At first, Shola was skeptical about boarding the chopper at night and he asked his boss whether it was safe to do so. Wigwe assured him that the US had solid tools used to navigate the chopper at night so that was not a problem.

However, it later occurred to them that the chopper would be unable to convey them and their luggage to their destination. The luggage would have to be loaded onto another chopper which was to arrive at their destination 3 hours after they have landed. And as the PA, he is the one in charge of delivering all the luggage to everyone on the chopper and going with them meant he wouldn't be able to sleep until the luggage arrived. So he resorted to doing the smart thing, which was to board the chopper conveying the luggage instead of the same as everyone else. That way, he gets to nap and also discharge his duty as always. That was how Shola narrowly escaped dying alongside his boss, and others on the chopper.
