Willy Kambwala has recorded a huge milestone on his Manchester United career as he makes his Premier League debut for Man United against West Ham.

Although it began on a nightmare as United stumbled to a 2-0 defeat to West Ham, Willy Kambwala is still held as a promising young talent with a huge potential to compete for a place in Man United squad.

Speaking ahead of the game against West Ham, Man United manager Erik ten Hag hailed the youngster for his maturity, creativity, and confidence with the ball.

The Dutch tipped the youngster to be the next big talent in Man United defense hence his decision to give him a chance to test his talent.

''He is a big and promising talent. Collected and mature with the ball. He has been professional and outstanding in training. So we need to give him a chance," ten Hag said.

Who is Willy Kwambwala?

Willy Kwambwala is a French youth player. He was born in Democratic Republic of Congo but nurtured his football career in France where he was raised.

Kwambwala is 1.92ft tall. He clocked 19 on August 25, 2023. The young center-back started his football career playing for Sochaux youth team in France in 2018. He spent two years in Sochaux academy before joining Manchester United academy in 2020.

Since his switch to United, Kwambwala has earned plaudits for his flawless defending skills.

His spell with Manchester United suffered a temporary setback as he picked up an injury and was sidelined for 11 weeks before returning to action in 2021.

Since his return, Kwambwala has impressed with Man United youth term. Playing mainly as a center-back, he is known for his stamina, tactfullness, and efficiency on one-on-one situations.

Willy Kwambwala Man United Contract

Kambwala joined Manchester United from Sochaux - a second division side in France.

He was signed for £3.5m at the tender age of 16 on a five-year contract till 2025. Before his break-in into Man United first team, Kwambwala was drafted into first team training by Erik ten Hag since last season as the club struggled with mounting injury crisis.

He impressed the Dutch in training with his technical skills and strength. Kwambwala also counted heavily on his experience with France U17 team where he was made the captain.

The youngster is tipped to play a big role in Erik ten Hag's defense options with his promising traits.
