Woman Arraigned in court after misleading police officers with wrong information

A young woman has been arraigned in court in Lagos state after she misled some police officers by providing them false information. This woman has been identified as Blessing Udoh and she is 21 years old.

She was arraigned in court just yesterday, Monday August 15, 2023. The case in which she provided wrong information to the police was a murder case.

She was arraigned before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun in a Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State. This was on two counts of provision of misleading and false information.

She gave wrong information to the policemen at the Satelite Divisional Headquarters and the State Criminal Investigation Department, in Panti. She claimed that a man named Christopher Ibekwe had murdered another man named Moses Chidi. He claimed that Christopher had pushed Moses into the river thereby killing him.

The police then commenced investigation into the case and discovered that her information was false. This had happened on the 3rd of November 2022, in the Agboju area of Lagos State.

Her charge was that “That you, Blessing Udoh, and one other now at large, on November 3, 2022, at the Agboju area of Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did deliberately supply information to the Nigeria Police, State CID, Panti and Satellite Division that Christopher Ibekwe had killed one Moses Chidi, by pushing him into the river, an information you know to be false and misleading and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 95 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

This lady, blessing pleaded not guilty to these charges read against her.
The magistrate then granted her bail in the sum of N2m alongside two sureties in like sum. The case was also adjourned till the 10th of November 2023, for mention.
