Woman arraigned in court for attempting to steal baby from hospital in Lagos
A woman has been arraigned in court for attempting to steal a baby from a hospital in Lagos.
This woman has been identified as Modinat Faniyi.
She was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on Monday. This was due to her alleged attempts to steal a newborn baby in a hospital located in Ijaiye, Ojokoro area in Lagos State.
This woman is 49 years old. She was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command who also arraigned her before the court. This was on one count of attempted theft.
Thomas Nurudeen, who is the prosecutor, revealed to the court that this woman committed this crime on the 22nd of June, 2023.
He revealed that she entered this hospital, the Ahmadiya Muslim Hospital at Ijaiye, and attempted to steal a baby while the mother was asleep.
It was a newborn baby she attempted to steal the mother of the child had been asleep when this woman crept into the room and attempted this crime.
This woman pleaded not guilty to the charge read against her. The Magistrate, Patrick Nwaka has granted her bail of N100,000 alongside two sureties in like sum.
He has also adjourned the case till the 1st of September, 2023.
