Would you allow your son to marry a single mother, Actress Uche Elendu asks women
Nollywood actress Uche Elendu threw a question to Nigerian mothers on whether they would allow their sons to marry a single mother. Quoting verbatim, Uche asked, "As a parent, would you support/allow your son who is young, rich, educated, never married, no child, to marry a single mother who is a divorcee with 1 or more kids?"
This question was triggered by the rave of Queen Atang's wedding to her husband. Recall that Queen is a single mother of a one-year-old, yet, her husband accepted both mother and daughter into his life.
In Nigeria, single mothers have been stigmatized as a no-go area for unmarried men. A typical Nigerian mother wouldn't even approve of her son marrying a single mother and that has mostly become a norm in our society.
