Xavi Hernandez has spiked up reports of a possible sabbatical after he exits Barcelona at the end of the campaign.

Hernandez apparently wants to take some time off the round leather game to rest, before returning to management.

Xavi Hernandez revealed in January 2024 that he will be exiting Camp Nou at the end of the season, as he believes the team needs a change of guard.

Barcelona have endured a torrid season this campaign, moving through turbulent phases of losing games, although they have weathered the storm in recent matches.

The Blaugrana side are unbeaten in their last 9 matches, winning 6 matches and drawing 3 across all competitions.

Speaking on his future at Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez said: “My decision will not change, the club knows that very well”.

“I’m planning to stay at Barça until June 30 and then my idea is to take time to rest”.

The 44-year-old led the Spanish giants to the La Liga title and Supercopa de España in 2023, a feat that he would be proud of given Barcelona's financial instability.

Xavi Hernandez was appointed manager of the Catalan-based club on November 6, 2021, and he has taken charge of 131 matches, losing 26, drawing 23 and winning 82.

Definitely, clubs will come circling around for his services after he leaves Barcelona, as he didn't do badly handling the Spanish side.

He can still bow out on a high at the Spanish side, with the club battling to win the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona have been handed a date with French giants Paris Saint Germain, in a game that depicts the term “blast from the past”.

These two teams are certainly aiming to progress into the semi-finals, and they will be looking to show guts and determination, with the team that wants it the most securing victory.

The Blaugrana side are not stacked with quality like previous years, but they have got experience in distinct areas of the team.

Anyway, Xavi Hernandez has his sights on Atletico Madrid, with his Barcelona side visiting Wanda Metropolitano to play against Diego Simeone's side.

Barcelona sit 3rd on the La Liga table with 61 points, a point behind 2nd-placed Girona, who have amassed 62 points from 29 matches this campaign.

Xavi Hernandez's side are 11 points behind Real Madrid, who sit at the summit of the log, but they can close the gap to 8 points if they secure a victory over Atletico Madrid.

It will definitely be a fascinating battle between the Catalan giants and Los Colchoneros, with both teams striving and battling to achieve their ambitions this term.

Both teams are in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, with Atletico Madrid being paired against Borussia Dortmund, while Barcelona as aforementioned are drawn against Kylian Mbappe's Paris Saint Germain.
