PSV Eindhoven have announced that Netherland International Xavi Simon has left the club to return to Paris Saint Germain after one year in the Eredivisie.
Simons failed to impress during his first stint at the Parc Des Princes and he left the club on a free transfer last summer.
The Dutchman opted to join PSV Eindhoven and he was menacing under the tutelage of Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Confirming his departure from the Eindhoven based club, The Peasants shared a statement on their website which reads:
“Xavi Simons immediately leaves the training camp to complete the transfer with Paris Saint Germain.
The 20-year-old made 48 appearances for PSV Eindhoven last term, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions.
Simons assisted the Dutch side to win the KNVB Cup last term and the Dutch Super Cup.
The attacker was the Eredivisie's top scorer last season with 19 goals to his name in 32 league appearances and he assisted the Red and Whites to a 2nd placed finish in the league.
Following his arrival to Eindhoven last summer, Simons penned a five-year deal with PSV Eindhoven, however PSG inserted a buyback option into his deal.
PSG might be competing in the Champions League next term depending on the outcome of their UEFA Champions League qualification encounter.
However, they might be doing that without the services of Unai Simon after PSG triggered a £5.2 million buyback clause inserted in his contract.
The 20-year-old previously pure cold water on speculations linking him with a move away from PSV, in spite of interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
He made 11 appearances for Paris Saint Germain during his first stint at the club, scoring no goal and providing 1 assist.
Xavi Simons is expected to undergo his PSG medical today and he will pen with the club afterwards.
However, he might not get a direct starting shirt at the Paris based club as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano indicates he could still be sent on loan for the upcoming season.
The Italian journalist also reports that PSG will let Xavi Simons exit the club on loan of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar remain at the Parc Des Princes.
However, if one or both players exit the club, the Netherland International will stay in Paris.
Paris Saint Germain are keen on selling Kylian Mbappe in the midst of speculations that he has failed to pen a contract extension with the club.
Although the Frenchman has expressed his desire to remain at the club for the upcoming season.
For Neymar, he has been linked with a move to the Premier League, Saudi Arabia and a return to Barcelona, but he isn't currently keen on a move away from PSG.
