Youth Corp member arrested for rape in Ogun state
A Youth Corp member who has been identified as Adebola Sodiq has been arrested for rape in Ogun state.
He was arrested on Friday, May 12, 2023. It was the officers of the Ogun State Police Command who arrested him for raping a 20 year old lady. The name of the lady was not disclosed for some reasons.
It was Abimbola Oyeyemi who is the spike of the Ogun State command who revealed this news.
He mentioned that this man was arrested after a complaint was reported to the Owode Egba divisional headquarters.
It was the young lady who was the victim that reported the case.
She revealed that this guy is the boyfriend of one of her friends and he had come to her apartment on the 9th of May.
He asked her to follow him to the junction of the village so he could buy her a gift for her birthday which she had just celebrated recently.
She says she didn't suspect anything because he was her friend's boyfriend. She then followed him.
He had asked her to follow him to the school where he was serving so that he could pick up his wallet which he left there and she did.
She says when they got there he dragged her to his room and assaulted her.
After she had reported the case, the DPO of that division ordered his detectives to look for him and they were able to make the arrest.
He confessed during investigations and said at the time, he didn't know what came over him.
The Police took the young lady to the hospital for medical treatment.
The State Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that this man be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for more investigation and prosecution.
