Sweden International Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave AC Milan after their last encounter of the campaign against Hella Verona on Sunday.
Following the expiration of his three year stay with the Rossoneri in his second stint with the side, Ibrahimovic is expected to receive a lovely send-off.
A spokesperson of the Serie A side said: “AC Milan will bid farewell to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a brief ceremony involving all the crowd.”
“AC Milan would like to thank Zlatan for the magnificent years we spent together.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic re-signed for AC Milan in 2019 and he galvized the 7-time Champions League winners to win the Serie A title last campaign.
Unfortunately, he has only featured in four matches and started one encounter for the Red and Blacks this campaign.
Ibrahimovic is the oldest-ever goalscorer in Serie A history at 41 years and 166 days, he netted a penalty in AC Milan's 3-1 defeat at the Dacia Arena on the 18th of March 2023 to set that record.
Due to an injury plagued season for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the 19-time Serie A champions decided it was perfect time to let him go.
His contract will not be reviewed and renewed when it ends on the 30th of June 2023.
The ex-Juventus attacker's first stint at AC Milan started out as a loan deal from Barcelona in the 2010/11 season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was afterwards signed from the Blaugarana side for €24 million and he penned a four-year contract with the Rossoneri.
The Swedish player scored 93 goals in 163 appearances for AC Milan, that stats is taking into consideration his first and second stint with the side including his initial loan spell.
Meanwhile, head coach Stefano Pioli has said that Ibrahimovic will not feature in Sunday's game against Hellas Verona at the San Siro.
Reports indicate that the Swede could pen a deal with Monza ahead of next season and this would see him reunite with Silvio Berlusconi and his right-hand man Adriano Galliani.
Former prime minister of Italy, Berlusconi, sold AC Milan for £740 million in 2017 following several years of dominance.
The Italian acquired A.C. Monza for a relatively low amount only a year after selling Milan.
Silvio Berlusconi was the individual who brought Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the San Siro on loan from Barcelona in August 2010.
Ibrahimovic lifted the Serie A title in both stints at AC Milan; 2010/11 and 2021/22, he could be credited as one of the key factors in the club lifting the title last season.
The former Paris Saint Germain forward could have returned to action in April but unfortunately he picked up a calf injury during a pre-match warm up.
AC Milan occupy the 4th spot in the Serie A with 67 points and they have qualified for Champions League football next campaign.
The Rossoneri could not win any trophy this season having lost out in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia in addition to a Semi-final exit in the Champions League.
They also finished as runners up in the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana after losing 3-0 against eternal rivals Inter Milan.
