DR Congo inspirationally clawed their way back from losing position to defeat Guinea at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Mohamed Bayo put Guinea ahead in the 20th minute, expertly tucking home a penalty beyond the reach of Lionel Mpasi-Nzau.

Seven minutes later, Chancel Mbemba brought DR Congo back on level terms, with a magnificent effort into the top corner.

Both teams continued to go neck and neck, and in the 37th minute, Arthur Masuaku was booked for a reckless tackle.

The two teams went into the interval in parity, with the words of their managers needed to galvanize them towards positive fortunes.

In the 59th minute, Kaba Diawara's Guinea made two needed changes, with Abdoulaye Traore replacing Morgan Guilavogui.

Facinet Conte was also introduced in place of Sekou Sylla, as the National Elephants were going toe-to-toe with their opposition.

Four minutes after the hour mark, Amadou Diawara made a silly tackle and it caused his side a penalty, which was ably converted by Brentford's Yoane Wissa.

Wissa picked his spot brilliantly and guided the ball into the bottom left corner, much to the delight of DR Congo's supporters.

The attacker was the most fouled player on the night, with him being fouled about 4 times throughout the 90 minutes.

In an attempt to get back into the game, Guinea brought on Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy for Amadou Diawara.

Eleven minutes before the end of normal time in the encounter, Guinea's Facinet Conte was also handed a yellow for a poor tackle.

DR Congo sealed the job in the 82nd minute through Arthur Masuaku, with the Besiktas star curling a sublime free-kick into the top left corner.

Six minutes before the expiration of normal times, Sebastien Desabre substituted Yoane Wissa for Joris Kayembe Ditu, while Aaron Tshibola came on for Theo Bongonda.

Guinea also made two changes in stoppage time, with Bayo coming off for Francois Kamano, having shown signs of weakness.

Antoine Conte also got some minutes under his belt, as he was brought on to replace Ibrahim Diakite.

Following 90 minutes and additional time, Desabre's side progress gallantly into the semi-final and they are closer to the trophy than ever imagined.

DR Congo will face either Côte d'Ivoire or Mali in the last four and they will be hoping to defeat any of these heavyweights that come their way in order to get a chance at achieving glory.

This victory against Guinea signifies the Leopard's first win in regulation time in the tournament, as they had played out a 1-1, 1-1, 0-0, and 1-1 scoreline before today.

However, football rewards the brave and determined, and as such, they are amongst the last 4, ably vying to lift the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title.
