4,000 offenders arrested by Oyo state environmental task force
4,000 environmental Offenders in Oyo state have been arrested by the Oyo State Environmental Task Force.
This has been within the few years which thus agency has been created. These 4,000 have been arrested, tried and prosecuted for various environmental offences.
The chairman of the force who is Francis Ojomo was the one who revealed this on Wednesday In Ibadan.
He mentioned this to journalists yesterday.
He said some of these people who were arrested were committed to community service after their trial. He revealed that some others had paid fines.
He mentioned that since the agency was created, they have rescued over N30 million as fines paid from various offenders.
He then advised and pleaded with people to learn to obey the state environmental laws.
He said this is to sustain healthiness. Revealed this as a part of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations which is sanitation and sustainable environment.
He revealed this wasn't the first time the agency would plead with people to obey.
