40 Nigerians released from detention in Libya.

About 40 Nigerians have been released from detention in Libya recently. Out of these 40 people, 34 are females.

This release was facilitated by the Nigerian Mission in Libya. This happened on Tuesday.

These 40 people are irregular migrants. They were held in the Bir Al-Ghanam detention facility in Libya.

The Nigerian Mission in Libya, consisting of Ambassador Kabiru Musa released this information in a statement recently.

He mentioned this to NAN yesterday, Wednesday in Abuja.

He says it was the mission who ensured their release and this had happened on the 27th of June.

These people had been arrested for irregular migration and the authorities in Libya detained them for almost 2 months.

He revealed that the mission will continue to cater for these people who were released until they are repatriated. They will care for their accommodation, medicine and feeding.

He says he used them to go back to their homes and never attempt to make such a trip again. He also told them to warn their fellow people when they return home never to try such as there are dangers in irregular migration.

He mentioned that 34 of this number were females while the remaining 6 were males.

He mentioned that they got to understand that most of them had been lured into traveling into this country. This had been on the basis of greener pastures but they fell into the hands of traffickers.

He says he advised them to produce any information they have about their traffickers so they can be found and arrested.
