Google has reported that it will lay off hundreds of employees from its digital assistant, engineering teams, and hardware. The move made by the company is to reduce expenses. However, this development is coming after a year, after which the tech giant laid off 12,000 employees.

Bloomberg, a reliable news channel, said that the layoffs by Google will impact employees involved in the development of Google Assistant, a voice-activated technology, and those in the augmented reality hardware team. The source also predicted that Google's central engineering organization will experience job cuts.

A Google spokesperson stated, "In the latter half of 2023, several of our teams changed to improve efficiency and align resources with our top product priorities. Some teams are still implementing these organizational changes, which unfortunately involve cuts worldwide."

The report says that affected employees have been notified and will be given the privilege of applying to other open positions within Google.

However, this didn't go well as the Alphabet Workers Union, representing some Google employees, showed its disapproval of the layoffs in a statement posted on X, previously known as Twitter.
