Xavi Hernandez is struggling to keep his Barcelona players in check, with reports indicating that a section of the first-team squad have lost faith in him.

It has been said that some players of the team have been questioning his tactics for a while, with Xavi not being able to adapt to the Blaugrana's side style of play.

Barcelona have had a poor outing this campaign, as they sit 4th on the La Liga table with 41 points from 19 matches.

The Spanish side have lost points in many matches this term, predominantly in games that they were expected to win.

Several players of the team have also dropped in quality, including Robert Lewandowski, who has managed to score 12 goals and provide 5 assists in 25 matches across all competitions.

Recently, Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, expressed that manager Xavi Hernandez's job is not under any threat.

However, it remains to be seen how things would turn out, given the reality that several players might turn on the Spanish tactician soon.

Player power in modern football has sprawled into different proportions, with players even ganging up to ensure some managers are dismissed.

The change in fortunes for the Blaugrana side is noticeable, having won the LA LIGA title last campaign.

It appears some players have dropped the tempo based on their disinterest in the style of Xavi Hernandez.

Xavi has to work quickly to salvage the situation and avert any possible occurrence of the dressing room turning on him.

Recently, Barcelona were hammered by rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final 4-1, and that sent shockwaves to fans of the club.

Xavi Hernandez's job might be at stake if results don't improve significantly, particularly based on the standards of the Catalan-based club.

However, he could be left off the hook, given the financial state of Barcelona, as the Spanish club might feel that Xavi has been impressive with the qualities at his disposal.

The La Liga champions are in a conundrum and they must sort out their fortunes quickly to avoid a situation where even qualifying for the UEFA Champions League will be difficult to come by.

Anyway, Barcelona return to action on Thursday, January 18, 2024, facing Unionistas de Salamanca, in a Round of 16 Copa Del Rey clash.

They subsequently return to league football on Sunday, January 21, 2024, squaring up against Real Betis, who are managed by former Real Madrid boss Manuel Pellegrini.

It will be fascinating to see how things pan out in the coming weeks, spiraling into months, and that is if Xavi Hernandez remains as manager of the club beyond this campaign.

The 43-year-old's current deal with the Spanish giants runs until the 30th of June, 2025.
