Bashir Ahmaad, a close adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, has confirmed Goodluck Jonathan's switch to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Bashir confirmed the news in a tweet on Thursday, in response to those who questioned his prior forecast that the former President would join the ruling party.
"When I conveyed the news of former President Jonathan's joining our party, his misinformed fans attacked me, claiming it could never happen, even in the wildest dream," he said.
Remember that a northern faction allegedly bought former President Jonathan's N100 million nomination and expression of interest papers from the ruling party.
Despite Jonathan's denial of knowledge of the form, the former President paid a visit to the APC's National Chairman and former Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Adamu, at his Abuja house the same evening.
The former President was at Adamu's mansion to seek assurance from the ruling party before decamping from the People's Democratic Party.
According to sources familiar with their discussions, the APC Chairman welcomed the former President to the ruling party, but there was no guarantee that he would be given the party's presidential ticket.
