Dani Alves’ estranged wife, Joana Sanz, seemed to aim a jab at the former Barcelona player, moments after he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexual assault.

On Thursday, February 22, the former Brazil international was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in the bathroom of an upscale Barcelona nightclub in the early hours of December 31, 2022.

However, the former Juventus defender and father-of-two had been held on remand at Brians 2 Prison near the Catalan capital since his arrest in January 2023 and now faces his first night behind bars as a sentenced sex offender.

Notably, moments after the 40-year-old sentence was confirmed, fast-eyed fans discovered the Brazilian international’s ex-wife Joana shared a selfie on her Instagram page.

The Spanish model shared a picture of herself before also posting a photo that appeared to show she was out for coffee glowing and bearing an intractable look.

Earlier in February 2024, Sanza took to the stance where she testified against Dani Alves, claiming he came home smelling like alcohol the night he allegedly assaulted the 23-year-old lady.

Sanza also claimed Alves struck her several times on that disastrous night.

Alves changed his statement of events numerous times during his trial, something that worked against him.

He eventually confessed to having connections with the alleged victim but claimed it was consensual.

Check out the prison where Dani Alves will serve his four and half year sentence

It was reported that Dani Alves will serve his rape sentence in a popular criminal Spanish prison described as a Hilton hotel.

The former Sao Paulo and Brazil player will serve his sentence at the Brians 2 prison, where he's been on remand since January 2.

The prison was inaugurated in 2007 to help overcrowding in other penitentiaries and is home to 1500 occupants.

Brians 2 is just over 20 miles away from Barcelona city center and includes a large swimming pool for criminals to keep cool during the sweaty summer months.

According to reports, the 40-year-old is set to share the aforementioned prison with a former bodyguard of Ronaldinho, Alves' former team-mate in Brazil.

An insider claims Ronaldinho's former guard, a man identified as Coutinho, is also sentenced at Brian 2 following a sexual assault.

The most well-known inmate of the prison was antivirus software pioneer John McAfee, who died in its walls in June 2021.

McAfee, who was locked up in Brians 2 in October 2021, faced numerous charges of fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion in America before his death.

He said; "Life in Spanish prisons is like the Hilton compared to the abject surrealism and dehumanization of American prisons".

"Here I am treated as a human being instead of a number".

Brian 2 has experienced its fair share of violence, compared to most prisons.

A prisoner who had been jailed for sexually abusing youths and paralyzed individuals was stabbed 29 times in his chest, neck, and abdomen, before the arrest of McAfee.

An inmate with mental health problems also attacked his fellow inmates and staff in April 2020 before eventually being restricted.

What's next for Dani Alves?

The multiple La Liga and Champions League winner and his legal squad plan to appeal his sentence, therefore, it remains to be seen whether the years will be reduced or not.
