It appears the goals dried up in the final set of games in group F of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Both matches played at 9:00 PM West African Time produced just a goal, and it was in the encounter involving Zambia and Morocco.

Zambia 0-1 Morocco

The Atlas Lions dominated Zambia for most parts of the game, as they enjoyed the lion's share of the possession.

Despite the barrage of shots fired by Walid Regragui's side throughout the game, only 5 out of their 15 shots were on target.

Hakim Ziyech scored the lone goal of the game in the 37th minute, with a brilliant attempt from inside the 18-yard area.

Chipolopolo tried all they could, but the quality of Morocco was evident throughout the game and that was majorly the factor that separated the two sides.

The Atlas Lions progressed into the Round of 16 unbeaten, having recorded 2 wins and 1 draw in their 3 group matches, amassing 7 points in total.

2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions, Zambia, crashed out of the tournament in the group stage, with just 2 points, failing to secure any victory in their group-stage matches.

Tanzania 0-0 DR Congo

DR Congo ended as the happier of the two sides after 90 minutes and additional time, as they secured passage to the second round.

The encounter against Tanzania was a grueling game, with both teams going neck and neck at each other, with neither team giving themselves any breathing space whatsoever.

The Leopards appeared like they had their plan mapped out, and manager Sebastien Desabre was fully on hand to provide his side with the needed technical assistance to achieve their aim.

The Taifa Stars of Tanzania also ended the tournament without a victory like Zambia, but they can be proud of their display in the competition.

Tutored by Suleiman Hemed, they have been to the Africa Cup of Nations, just thrice in the country's history, and on all 3 occasions, they have crashed out in the group stage; in 1980, 2019, and 2023.

They finished the group ranked 4th, with 2 points from 3 matches, drawing 2 matches and losing 1; their opening group affair against Morocco.

Meanwhile, the one-time winner of the Africa Cup of Nations, DR Congo, progressed into the Round of 16, with just 3 points, having drawn all their group stage matches.
