Recall that Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon, where she cooked for over 100 hours last month.
Meanwhile, the Guinness World Records is yet to award Hilda Baci for this feat as it is still being processed, and she is still expecting results.
Since yesterday, a certain chef Dammy from Ekiti has been cooking to break Hilda Baci's record of 100 hours. She is aiming for 120 hours, which is 20 more hours than Hilda did.
There have been mixed reactions on social media since yesterday about the young chef's attempt to break the record.
Some Nigerians gave their support while some are doubting the legitimacy of the cookathon saying she is supposed to follow specific guidelines laid by Guinness World Records.
A Twitter user said, “this Nigerian mentality needs to die. Suddenly, everyone wants to break a cooking record. It's the same mentality that makes everyone jump into a line of business once one or two people succeed at it.”
“The sky is wide enough for everyone’s talents, I see no reason why you shouldn’t root for Chef Dammy! Hilda laid the foundation, surely a building has to happen! It’s a healthy competition, I must say”
Another said, “Nobody is saying Chef Dammy can’t break the record of 120 hours, it's just wrong timing, and it’s making it look like she’s chasing clout. Why didn’t she come out before Hilda Baci?”
