Manchester City secured an edgy victory over the Evertonians, following two well-taken goals by Erling Haaland.

Haaland netted the opener for the Cityzens in the 71st minute, after Jarrad Branthwaite's clearance fell into the path of the Norwegian.

Erling Haaland subsequently fired a brilliant effort past Jordan Pickford with his supposed weaker foot.

Five meetings before the expiration of normal time, Haaland stood up to the occasion once again, after he was put through on goal by Kevin De Bruyne.

The telepathic partnership was evident today at the Etihad Stadium and coach Pep Guardiola will be delighted that his men delivered the goods on the day.

Before Manchester City turned up the heat late on, it was appearing like a game that would culminate in another draw for Sean Dyche's side - which would have made it 3 league draws in a row.

It was utter despair on the faces of the traveling supporters, as they watched their side go on their 4th game without a victory across all competitions.

The Citizens are inching ever so close to their 4th unprecedented league title in a row, as they have usurped Liverpool to the summit of the log.

This is a position which the opposition wouldn't want them to be in, given how they put a chokehold on the top of the table when they get there.

Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne's combination was also witnessed optimally against the Toffees, and supporters of Manchester City will be hoping that this duo can stay fit until the remainder of the campaign.

The win saw Manchester City move up to the 1st spot on the Premier League table as aforementioned, with 52 points from 23 matches, 1 better than Liverpool, who have amassed 51 points in 23 games.

John Brooks was the center referee for the clash and just 2 players were handed yellow cards for their misdemeanors.

In the 54th minute, Idrissa Gana Gueye was shown a yellow for a poor tackle on Phil Foden.

Seven minutes into stoppage time, James Garner became the second player to get his name taken down into the referee's books as he was booked for an unreasonable offense.

Anyway, Manchester City returns to action facing Copenhagen on February 13, 2024, in a Matchday 13 Premier League encounter.

For Sean Dyche's side, they welcome Crystal Palace to Goodison Park on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Following the defeat to Pep Guardiola's side, Everton slumped to 18th on the table, with 19 points from 24 matches.

It will be interesting to see how the season unfolds, with several teams looking to secure the crown at the expiration of the grueling season.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are notable teams looking to grab the ultimate prize and it will be fascinating to see how the coming matches for these teams will go.
