It was a tough clash at Forest home this evening as the Toffees fought tooth and nail and eventually got a resounding 1-0 victory over the host club.

It must be noted that the pink protest cards against the Premier League provided by Everton fan group the 1878s that were massively displayed at Goodison Park against Manchester United last week Sunday, are also out in force again tonight at City Ground.

The football world was shocked when the Toffees were harshly punished for breaking Profit and Sustainability rules in November, with the point deduction plunging them into the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Everton revealed their intention to appeal the charges and their fans have started protesting against the Premier League after the club's 10-point deduction as punishment for breaking financial rules.

Everton supporters loudly echoed their voices against the punishment during their most recent match against Manchester United, with those in attendance at Goodison Park holding up placards that accused the Premier League of 'corruption'.

Some of their supporters also let off fireworks outside the ground, disrupting the broadcast of the match.

The demonstrations continue at the City Ground on Saturday evening, December 2, as Everton and the club’s fans once again appear before TV cameras beaming live images around the world even before the kick-off time.

Nottingham Forest vs Everton match in details

The Toffees go into this fixture bottom of the Premier League after Burnley humiliated Sheffield United 5-0.

A chance for Forest appeared as captain Ryan Yates was in position at the back post as a cross came in but his header went wide seconds as the game unfolded.

Forest pressed harder and had another opportunity as Ashley Young gave away another free-kick in a dangerous area as he pushed Anthony Elanga to the turf in the 9th minutes.

As planned, Everton’s away end turns a sea of pink in the 10th minute as the fans protest the deduction against premier league. Forest supporters respond: “You cheating ********, you know what you are.”

Everton had a golden chance in the 12th minute as center-back pair Branthwaite and Tarkowski got forward to have a go in Nottingham Forest's box and both tried and have a jab at goal but the ball wouldn’t fall through.

Another big wasted opportunity for the visitors as Beto fires over the bar following the Forest keeper dropping the ball under pressure from McNeil.

Nottingham Forest are pressing harder with 60% ball possession against Everton in the 35th minute but the Toffee's relentless effort is paying off too.

This first half has ebbed and ended with a goalless draw but after a brilliant start, Everton needs to get back to playing in Forest’s half more often to rescue their position in the premier league.

The second half begins with Everton trying to create something big but all their efforts aimed towards the box were intercepted.

Everton managed to score the important first goal as Dwight McNeil found the net with the left foot to hand Everton a goal against the host.

The ball is darted across Forest's box and finds Dwight McNeil at the back post.

McNeil controls the ball and fiercely fired it into the top of the net handing the visitors the lead.

This is indeed a vital goal as Everton look to get themselves out of trouble at the bottom of the premier league table.

Nottingham Forest toil to return parity but all their efforts are being denied.

An opportunity came for Forest in the 74th minute as the ball Doucoure on the hand, and Nottingham Forest's fans called vehemently for a penalty.

However, the VAR quickly wave it away as he's so close to the Everton player, that it would have been harsh tackling.

The host are trying to build a golden opportunity in stoppage time, but Everton have all their players back and aren't allowing the hosts any opportunities to get through.

The match ended in favour of Everton as the referee blew the final whistle after 5 minutes of added time.

Both teams could have split the point today but Everton just managed to carve out the victory.
