The Federal Government has approved a sum of N3 billion to fund the construction of the Numan-Jalingo Road, according to the Minister of State, Works and Housing, Engr. Muazu Sambo Jaji.

The Minister stated this over the weekend when inspecting federal roads under construction in Taraba and Adamawa states.

The fund, he said, will be released to the project's contractor in July and would go a long way toward completing the project.

He did, however, warn the contractor in charge of the project that if the road was not completed on time, he would be fired.

The Minister, who also paid a visit to the construction company's (DEUX Construction Nigeria Limited) site in Numan, Adamawa State, to assess its capabilities to fulfill the contract, advised the contractor to leave no stone unturned in providing high-quality work.

He warned the contractor that if the funds were not provided in the next few days, he would lose the contract to a more capable construction business.

When queried about the reason for the project's delay, Frank Kohshola, the business's site engineer, admitted that just N1.5 billion was handed to the company after the contract was awarded in 2017.

He also attributed the project's poor pace to insecurity and a lack of funds.

According to reports, the route, which has turned into a death trap and a haven for terrorists and armed robbers, was awarded in March 2017 for N11 billion and is expected to be completed in July 2019.
