FG says the says the Senate cannot stop demolition at Lagos airport
The Federal Government has said that the Senate cannot stop demolition work at the Lagos airport.
The Federal Government mentioned this yesterday. According to them, the ongoing demolition of buildings and offices at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, in Lagos cannot be stopped.
This is coming after the Senate gave the government directives to stop the demolition.
Hadi Sirika, who is the Minister of Aviation, mentioned was the one who gave a hint of this and this was while he was briefing the reporters. He briefed the reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
He mentioned that the directives of the Senate is just merely an advice but not enough to stop the Federal Government.
He said the government plans to remove some commercial buildings and also the building where the office of the managing director of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is.
He said this biking has caught fire 2 within the 40 years of being there.
They want to make way for better development and put some hotels,offices and malls there and this is so that FAAN can make money.
He said the houses which were demolished not too long ago were for national interest.
