Mason Greenwood is now a hot transfer topic tossed about in the rumor mills as he nears the end of his loan tenure with Getafe.

Greenwood's zig-zag career route to Getafe started in 2022 when he temporarily saw his Man United career stalled due to rape and assault allegations.

United suspended him from the squad following his arrest due to the allegations. And that marked the beginning of hiccups in his career.

Charges against him were dropped but United refused to integrate him back into the squad for fear of backlash even after he was cleared by the club's internal investigators of any wrongdoing.

He was loaned to Getafe to restart his career with no buy option. Based on the terms of the loan agreement with Getafe, it was thought United would bring back Mason Greenwood to restart his career at Old Trafford before reports emerged the club are planning to sell him off when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Plans on Greenwood's Manchester United future was anchored by United's old guards led by former CEO Richard Arnold. With Sir Jim Ratcliffe now helming affairs in the club's football and sporting operations, the conversation on Greenwood's Manchester United future has been revived.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe stoked up headlines of Greenwood's possible return to Manchester United in his first official media interview after his Man United bid sailed through.

Sir Jim said Greenwood is still a Manchester United player and the club will consider a new decision on his future when his loan deal expires.

Meanwhile, Greenwood has been linked to top clubs in LaLiga following his impressive loan shift with Getafe. Barcelona and Real Madrid were reportedly interested in signing the player. Sources close to Greenwood revealed the youngster was equally ready to continue his career in LaLiga as he is happy with his new-found life in the Spanish elite division.

Also, Getafe were interested in making his move permanent with reports an offer has been submitted to Man United but has been turned down.

Now, amidst a report of Mason Greenwood's return to Manchester United at the instance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's recent gesticulations, Getafe President Angel Torres has spoken expressly on Greenwoods' transfer.

In a quote shared by a Spanish outlet, Torres said;

“He has a clear conscience, he is very comfortable and crazy about staying another year. It’s a matter that Manchester United have to decide. There is new ownership. They have to decide. In Spain, he has a market. Barcelona’s way of playing would suit him well but it depends on United. If it’s true, he’ll tell me.”

Greenwood has 10 goal contributions for Getafe in his 22 LaLiga appearances for the club, consisting of 5 goals and 5 assists.

According to reports he is open to ditch his plan to continue in LaLiga if Manchester United are ready to have him back.
