The Ghana national team have turned down West Ham United's request to play Mohammed Kudus against Brighton in the Premier League on January 2, 2024.

The West Ham winger had received a call-up to represent the Ghanaian national team in the coming 2024 African Nations Cup, which kicks off on January 13, 2024.

The Premier League teams had been compelled to release African players for the Tournament on January 1, 2024.

The Ghanaian manager, Chris Hughton, is focused on getting all 25 listed players available before the beginning of the tournament.

West Ham United had been in fine form, with Mohammed Kudus leading the attack effectively.

In the last two matches, they have defeated Manchester United and Arsenal.

Kudus' absence for the match against Brighton will be a big blow for West Ham and David Moyes. He had become the fans favorite since making his debut.

The attacking midfielder has scored nine goals in 24 appearances for West Ham United in all competitions since leaving Ajax.

Jarrod Bowen remains the only player to have scored more goals than the Ghanaian winger in the West Ham team.

However, Kudus has made 26 appearances for the Black Stars. He also played for them in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In the previous African Cup of Nations, the winger was not available due to a rib fracture.
