Nigerian singer and songwriter Oyinkansola Aderibigbe professionally known as Ayra Starr reveals that she got into University at age 14.
In an interview with Billboard, Ayra Starr disclosed that her mom was quite particular about her getting a degree before pursuing her musical career. Unlike other Nigerian kids who finished their secondary school education at 16, Ayra Starr was determined to finish school early because her lifelong dream was to become a teenage pop star.
As God would have it, she gained admission into Les Cours Sonou University in Benin Republic where she studied International Relations. She graduated at 17 and started making song covers online. Amazingly, she got signed into Mavin Records that same year. Ayra Starr said she always believed in herself and knew she would achieve her dreams.
