Manchester City strolled past Brazilian side Fluminense in empathic fashion to win the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup title.

The Citizens were rampant at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, annihilating the 2023 Copa Libertadores champions.

Julian Alvarez raced Manchester City into the lead with about 40 seconds of action played, chesting the ball into an empty net following a massive effort by Nathan Ake.

Pep Guardiola's side continued to display their brilliance, creating chances and wreaking havoc on the Fluminense backline.

In the 27th minute, the UEFA Champions League winners doubled their lead, with center-back Nino scoring an own goal.

Phil Foden received a nice through-ball from Nathan Ake, and he looked up, releasing a pass towards the far post but the Brazilian defender put it beyond his goalkeeper.

Manchester City also had a great chance in the 42nd minute, with Jack Grealish getting past Xavier with ease before also beating other players and firing a shot at goal.

His effort was amazing but it wasn't enough to beat goalkeeper Fabio, who parried the ball away from goal.

The Citizens went into the break leading by a 2-goal advantage and in a comfortable position of victory.

Following the restart of action in the second 45, John Kennedy was brought on to replace Keno.

Manchester City continued to control the affair of things in the second half, but in the 57th minute, former Real Madrid defender Marcelo was booked for a foul on Bernardo Silva.

Four minutes later, Marcelo was subbed off for Alexsander Gomes, while Vinicius Lima came on for Ganso.

Former Juventus, Inter Milan and Fiorentina defender Diogo Barbosa was also introduced for Fluminense.

Fluminense are tutored by Brazil's interim head coach Fernando Diniz and he most likely wouldn't have been pleased with the result.

However, he would be delighted with the showing of his team against a stacked Manchester City team.

Mateo Kovacic also came on for Manchester City, replacing youngster Rico Lewis in the 61st minute.

Fluminense's Alexsander Gomes also had his name taken down into the referee's book for a rash challenge on Rodri.

Phil Foden got his only goal of the encounter in the 72nd minute, tapping the ball into an empty net, with Julian Alvarez providing the assist.

Manchester City have now won every trophy available at their disposal in the club's history and they rightly can now be termed as one of the big teams in Europe, not only by form but by trophies won.

It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola will remain at Manchester City past this season, given the fact that he has practically won everything in club football as the manager of the English side.
