The Lagos PDP chairman, Philip Aivoji who was kidnapped on 25th January 2024 finally regains freedom following a gun duel between the kidnappers and the security agencies.

Philip Aivoji was kidnapped on Thursday at Ogere, Lagos-Ibadan expressway when returning from the PDP South-West Zonal meeting in Ibadan which was hosted by Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde. The chairman was kidnapped alongside another colleague who managed to escape from the kidnappers' den. The kidnappers demanded a sum of N200M for his release. The police made efforts to rescue him on Friday but all plans failed as it resulted in a gun duel between the police and abductors.

In a recent statement by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, it was revealed that Aivoji was released in the early hours of this morning after spending 4 days in the kidnappers' den. He also thanked the authorities and the general public for their prayers and support towards his release.
