A Militant attack in Uganda has led to the death of 25 students. This attack was linked to the Islamic State group.
The incident happened in the Western part of Uganda. Local officials and police have revealed this is the worst attack they have had in years.
The army revealed that they were
pursuing militants that were from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). This was after the cross-border raid that happened on Friday on a secondary school in Kasese district.
Fred Enanga who is the National police spokesman revealed that an attack had happened on Lhubiriha Secondary School in Mpondwe by the ADF. A dormitory was burnt and a food store was looted during the attack.
He stated that they have recovered 25 bodies and they have taken them to a hospital in the next town, Bwera Hospital.
He revealed that the were also 8 victims who had been injured and are in the hospital
Joe Walusimbi, who is the Resident Commissioner for Kasese, revealed that some students are still missing.
The spokesperson of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Felix Kulayigye also revealed that its likely some people were also kidnapped.
He says they are working on locating these people.
