The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play against the Antelopes of Angola in the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations at 6 p.m. WAT on Friday, February 2.

The Super Eagles team qualified for the next round after defeating their long-term foe, Cameroon.

On the other hand, Angola defeated an inexperienced Namibia to book a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Nigeria vs. Angola Preview

Before the beginning of the tournament, expectations were low for the Super Eagles fans due to the team's performances in the games leading to the 2023 AFCON.

But the three-time African Cup of Nations champions are beginning to dream of the fourth one after defeating Cameroon 2-0 in the round of 16.

Ademola Lookman scored twice against the Cameroonian, but a major highlight of the game was Victor Osimhen's powerful strength against the Indomitable Lions, which was top-notch.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are expected to secure results against Angola and proceed to the semi-finals of the tournament to face either Cape Verde or South Africa.

In addition, the team are expected to secure the final on February 11, 2024.

They cannot rest on their laurels at this point with minnow teams eliminating the heavyweights of the tournament.

Recall that a struggling Ivory Coast eliminated Senegal and Morocco suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of South Africa.

As it stands, Angola stands on the path of the Super Eagles to another semi-final.

The Southern Africa team are not expected to be a straight-forward team for the highly ranked West African national team, the Super Eagles.

The Antelopes of Angola qualified for the Round of 16, defeating strong Mauritania and Burkina Faso.

They were also able to secure a point against the 2019 AFCON Champions, Algeria.

Gelson Dala and Mabululu had scored seven goals out of nine for the national team.

Angola are well known for ruining the dreams of the Super Eagles. The country stopped the Super Eagles from going to the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

If they defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria, it is going to be the team's second success in the knockout stage of the tournament.
