Nigeria's Influencer Doctor popularly known as Aproko Doctor has educated the public about a specific law in the Constitution. He said that the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017 doesn't permit a hospital to reject a patient of gunshot. Such a person needs to be treated without requesting for a Police report which in most cases, doesn't happen in Nigeria.

There have been several reports of gunshot victims and even accident victims in Nigeria where the hospital rejected the patients because they couldn't present a police report. In the process, the victims end up losing their lives because they couldn't receive the proper treatment on time.

The Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017 is a legislation enacted in Nigeria to ensure that victims of gunshot wounds receive prompt and adequate medical treatment and care. There is no way an injured person would visit the police station to get a report before heading for the hospital. Such a person may lose his/her life in the process. Therefore, Nigerians are encouraged to know their rights, and hospitals are advised to obey the law. This will drastically reduce the number of deaths of gunshot victims in Nigeria.
