FA has announced the nominees for The 2023 Best FIFA Coaches and The Best FIFA Goalkeeper awards for both male and female categories.

Among the finalists of the upcoming 2023 edition of The Best FIFA Coaches Awards in the men category are Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Simone Inzaghi, and Luciano Spalletti.

It should be noted that the prestigious FIFA award acknowledges the top performers in men's football from December 19, 2022, to August 20, 2023.

What qualifies The Best FIFA Coaches finalist in the men's category​


Pep Guardiola achieved an unprecedented treble last season, securing the Premier League title, Manchester City's first Champions League victory, and the FA Cup for the Sky Blue outfit.


Inzaghi on the other hand, led Inter Milan to victory in the Coppa Italia In the 2022-23 season but suffered defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Spalletti helped Napoli hoisted their first Serie A trophy since 1990 and led them to their first-ever UEFA Champions League quarter-final appearance.

It should also be noted that a total of five football managers were initially nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award before it was reduced to the three finalists being selected by an international jury.

The Best FIFA Coaches finalist in the women's category​


The FIFA award acknowledges the top performers from the sidelines in women's football during the period spanning from August 1, 2022, to August 20, 2023, which includes the date of the FIFA Women's World Cup.

In women's football, Barcelona's Jonatan Giraldez guided the Spanish side to win a continental treble last season.

Emma Hayes, on the other hand, led Chelsea to a domestic league and cup double.


Meanwhile, Wiegman continued her successful spell with the England national team by leading the Lionesses to the 2023 World Cup final.

Procedure for the nomination​


The coaches of the year are chosen based on their teams' performance and overall conduct both on and off the field.

Media representatives, national team coaches, and captains all have a vote in selecting the winners.

In the previous year, Lionel Scaloni was awarded the men's prize following Argentina's World Cup victory, while Wiegman claimed the women's award after England's Euro 2022 success - marking her third time receiving the prize.

The prestigious FIFA Best Awards will be announced at a London ceremony on January 15, 2024, marking the third time that FIFA has chosen the city to host The Best FIFA Football Awards.
