President Bola Tinubu ordered the probe of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Beta Edu over alleged N582M fraud.

This was made public by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris in a statement on Sunday 7th January, 2024.

According to reports, Dr. Edu was involved in the approval of the transfer of public funds over N582M into a personal account. The female Minister allegedly signed a memo instructing the Accountant General Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer the said amount into the bank account of a certain Oniyelu Bridget as a financial grant for four states.

Though Oluwatoyin Madein affirmed that Dr. Edu sent a memo to carry out the transaction, she didn't excuse the Minister's illegal act. Madein also confirmed that she didn't carry out the instructions of the Minister.

Meanwhile, Dr. Edu said she didn't carry out any plan to embezzle public funds and it was just a mere allegation to tarnish her image. Note that Dr. Beta Edu is the youngest Minister in Tinubu's administration. She is 37 years old.
