Raphael Varane has decided on a possible move to Saudi Arabia after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United.

Varane has found it hard to get regular playing time at the Old Trafford club this campaign, starting only 5 Premier League games this term.

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans have often been preferred ahead of him at center-back this season.

This has resulted in talks that the defender could be heading on a move away from Manchester United, with reports indicating that Saudi Arabian clubs are keen on acquiring his services.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested in signing Raphael Varane to fill the void created by injured defender David Alaba.

Al Ittihad are also believed to be interested in acquiring Raphael Varane, a move that could see him reunite with his former teammate at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema.

Meanwhile, according to reports from French media outlet, L'Equipe, Varane's contingent have claimed that a move to the Saudi Pro League is not on the cards.

Raphael Varane has in the past expressed that he will end his career either at Real Madrid, Manchester United, or RC Lens.

The 30-year-old began his career at French club Lens, where he made 24 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing no assist before joining Real Madrid for a fee of €11 million.

Varane has a strong bond with Real Madrid, being a compadre and friend with players and managers he has worked with.

Additionally, Raphael Varane also has a house in Spain, and that could make the environment conducive for him if he chooses to return to the Madrid-based club.

Real Madrid haven't made any contact with representatives of Varane over a move in the upcoming January transfer window.

The 30-year-old defender isn't keen on changing clubs but knows his current situation at Manchester United can't continue past this season.

It was reported in the previous week that John Murtough flew to Saudi Arabia to discuss potential departures for Varane, Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, and Anthony Martial, among other players.

However, a deal concerning transfers couldn't materialize, but further discussions are reportedly planned.

Raphael Varane joined Manchester United from Real Madrid on August 14, 2021, for a fee of €40 million.

He had a formidable partnership with Lisandro Martinez, which was instrumental in Manchester United winning the Carabao Cup last term and also securing a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Martinez has been out for most parts of the season, and as such Varane has also not seen much action.

Raphael Varane has also battled injury issues and that played a key role in him retiring from the French national team in January 2023.

He has made 77 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist in all competitions.

It is understood that Varane fully understands how tough it will be for him to play every three days for Manchester United, particularly in the crunch part of the season.
