Real Madrid may end up missing out on the move for Kylian Mbappe in what could be a final blow to their long-standing interest in the player.
The club have reportedly encountered a 'significant setback' in their move for the player.
According to Marca, Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe's agent and mother Fayza Lamari have clashed over contract terms.
The report adds Fayza Lamari is hesitant to agree to Real Madrid's offer for Kylian Mbappe. As per BILD, Real Madrid are proposing a £30m annual salary for Mbappe - an offer far below what PSG is offering the player (86m) to prompt him to sign a new deal.
Fayza Lamari has reportedly refused to accept Real Madrid's £30m offer and is asking the club to for a £60m annual, as per the Mirror.
It is believed the standoff between the two parties could actually have a bearing on the deal. Kylian Mbappe is yet to renew his PSG contract with just over four months left on his contract.
Before the beginning of this season, Mbappe and PSG were locked in a bitter contract row that nearly grind the player's career at Parc des Princes to a halt. However, the pair convened talks and reconciled positions before Mbappe returned to action.
According to L'Equipe, Kylian Mbappe is fixated on a free exit from PSG at the end of the season but PSG hierarchy are still hopeful of having the red-hot striker pen a new deal with the club.
Despite reports linking Mbappe to an imminent exit from the club, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi said Mbappe is yet to inform the club of his decision on his PSG future.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are still looming large on the radar as Kylian Mbappe's possible next destination should he leave PSG. However, Madrid's significantly reduced offer for the player could be another existential hurdle for both parties to cross.
At this point, it is understood Kylian Mbappe is not motivated by financial pecks as he attempts to open a new chapter on his career. However, it is yet to be determined whether he will accept Real Madrid's £30m-a-year offer or stick to his £60m demand.
