Sebastian Haller scored the only goal of the match for Ivory Coast against DR Congo to send the host to the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.

The striker used his strength and height to his advantage to score in the 66th minute of the match to send the Ivorians to the 2023 AFCON final after a rough start to the campaign.

The striker did not start the tournament with them but since he joined the team's starting lineup, he has contributed greatly to the success of the team.


How Ivory Coast Made it to the 2023 African Cup of Nations Final

DR Congo had the ball in the box in the 9th minute of the match but it was ruled out for foul on Ivorian Goalkeeper Fofana.

Kakuta forced Fofana into an excellent save from outside the box. It was an excellent kick from the attacker.

DR Congo winger Bakambu did an overhead kick but his attempt deflected wide for a corner in the 26th minute of the match.

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Fofana was forced into an excellent save in the 29th minute with a goal attempt.

In the 36th minute of the match, Haller had an overhead kick in the DR Congo 18-yard box which went over the goal post.

Sebastian Haller had a great opportunity to score in the 40th minute of the match but his header went over the goal post with the fans enjoying every bit of the match.

Ivory Coast midfielder Kessie hit the post with a low drive shot directed at the DR Congo goalpost in the 42nd minute of the match.

Kessie had another attempt on goal in the 59th minute of the match but it was pushed away by DR Congo's goalkeeper Mpasi.

Ivory Coast's goal came in the 66th minute of the match with Haller using his height to his advantage to score against DR Congo who were sloppy at the back due to Ivory Coast's limitless pressure.

Before the end of the second half, DR Congo Lina had a shot on goal but it was easily saved by the Ivorian goalkeeper Fofana.

What Next For Ivory Coast And DR Congo

The host country are playing the final against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on February 11, 2024, at 9:00 pm.

It is a match every fan will be looking forward to watching.

DR Congo on the other hand is expected to play against South Africa in the 3rd place match at 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 10.
