A video showing the moment a man attacked a Judge while being sentenced in court has gone viral. This video showed the defendant who was receiving his sentence, suddenly attacking the judge. This man leaped over a US courtroom bench to attack the judge who was giving the judgment on his case. This incident occurred recently in Las Vegas. The Judge, a woman was left injured but thankfully nothing too serious that would have required her to be hospitalized. It was a shocking moment that has caused a series of reactions on social media. The Judge who is from Nevada has been identified as judge Mary Kay Holthus. She has been in service for over 27 years. She was elected to the state court bench in 2018 and was reelected in 2022.
She fell to the ground as this man launched himself at her over the courtroom bench. The defendant has also been identified as Deobra Delone Redden and he is 30 years old. A courtroom marshal who came to the Judge's aid was also injured amd had to be hospitalised. He sustained injuries on his forehead and also had a dislocated shoulder. This incident occurred around 11am at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas. This was on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. As soon as the attack occurred, many courtroom staff members, came to their aid and in an attempt to restrain the defendant, they had to throw punches of their own.
The defendant was then arrested again and charged with new felony charges which include battery. He was already been charged over allegations of violence and battery and he had pleaded guilty before this new incident occured. The defendant, Redden had asked the judge for leniency. He claimed he wasn't a rebellious person and would try to do the right thing. However, the Judge was not having it. She revealed that he had to be punished and suddenly this man ran forward and attacked her.
