Tanzania have dismissed Adel Amrouche as the country's head coach after he was suspended by CAF for disparaging comments about Morocco.

Amrouche was slammed with a fine of $10000 and banned for 8 matches for his comments accusing Morocco of manipulating African football.

Adel Amrouche became manager of the Taifa Stars in March 2023, and he has had a wishy-washy stint as manager of the club.

He made these allegations after his team's 3-0 defeat to the Atlas Lions in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opening group affair.

Following the comments of Amrouche, Morocco were said to have complained to CAF’s Disciplinary Committee.

The Disciplinary Committee found Amrouche guilty of violating the code of ethics and behavior.

Subsequently, Adel Amrouche's contract was terminated and it was confirmed in a statement on Friday, January 19, 2024.

Amrouche's assistant, Hemed Morocco, was afterward made the interim coach for the team's remaining games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Tanzania return to action on Sunday, January 21, 2023, facing Zambia in their second Group F encounter.

The Taifa Stars sit bottom in Group F, with no point from one game played thus far and they will be aiming to improve in their upcoming fixture against the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions.

The East African nation have been at the AFCON just thrice; 1980, 2019, and 2023 - with their outing in 1980 and 2019 culminating in the group stage.

They are currently ranked 121st in the world and it will be interesting to see if they can ruffle feathers at the tournament.

Tanzania have a selected poll of decent players plying their trade globally, including; Mbwana Samatta of PAOK Thessaloniki FC, Kibu Denis of Simba SC, Charles M'Mombwa of Australian club, Macarthur FC.

Meanwhile, Adel Amrouche is well-traveled on the African continent, having managed Botswana, Libya, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, and Burundi.

The 55-year-old has also coached notable clubs on the continent, including; MC Algiers and USM Alger.

Amrouche was born in Kouba, Algiers, in Algeria, and that indicates that he was born in a neighboring country to Morocco.

His stance against the team begs the question of “what he knows about the nation and Caf” or he was just “sulking” following his side's defeat to Morocco.

The Atlas Lions got their opening in the game through Romain Saiss in the 30th minute, while Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri netted the 2nd and 3rd to crown the day for the Moroccans.

Meanwhile, Morocco return to action facing DR Congo on Sunday, January 21, 2024, and they will be hoping for a victorious outing in that clash.

As aforementioned, Walid Regragui's side sit in a comfortable position in Group F and they are also one of the favorites to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
